Session 1
Understand
Explore what has happened, make sense of common psychological and physical responses, and identify practical ways to feel more stable now.
Anchorpoint service
Structured individual support following a difficult or distressing workplace event.
Overview
Trauma Well Check at Anchorpoint.
Following a significant event, people can experience changes in sleep, appetite, concentration, mood and their sense of safety. These can be normal responses to an abnormal situation. Understanding what is happening can itself reduce fear and help someone regain a sense of steadiness.
Anchorpoint offers a contained series of individual sessions, usually three, shaped around the person rather than delivered as a rigid programme.
Structure
Session 1
Explore what has happened, make sense of common psychological and physical responses, and identify practical ways to feel more stable now.
Session 2
Consider how things are settling, what has changed or remains difficult, and what may help with sleep, functioning, self-care and support.
Session 3
Identify what the person can carry forward, what will help recovery continue and whether any additional support should be considered.
In summary
This is purposeful, time-limited support, not open-ended counselling or an EAP pathway. Where longer-term or specialist help may be useful, the individual is appropriately signposted.
